This is a custom knife built by Britishblades forum member jbaron. After seeing my review on the Edgepro system he asked if I could sharpen his knife as he was looking at buying one.
Well this was one tough little knife to sharpen. This was mainly due to the thickness of the blade and the high angle of the chamfer on the blade. But I persevered with it and went through the course to the fine stones.
The knife has a definite home grown feel to it. Not a chance of mistaking it for a commercial item. But that just adds to its character which I like. It is forged from a single piece of W2 Steel which has been water quenched to harden the blade. The hammer marks are still very visible on the sides of the blade. This gives it a primitive tool type of appeal.
The edge it now has will shave hairs from your arm without problem. The blade shape is not too dissimilar to a surgeons scalpel but about 10 times thicker :-) This will make the edge durable and tough so it should take hard cutting jobs well.
Not too sure I would
want to wear this round my neck. Well not without a desent sheath on it
anyway. I quite heavy as well. Looks like it has been built to last forever.
I am now waiting to see what he makes next. Should be interesting.
