This is the third of the Surelight products that I bought to evaluate for RC model night flying.

The Tent light consists of a 3000mm length of 3.2mm Diameter wire

The inverter is fitted with a single PP3 9V battery which is fitted under a sliding cover.

Operation is via a sliding switch on the front of the inverter. The first position will cause the unit to flash. The second position will turn the unit on constantly. The flash rate is adjustable on this unit using the knob on the top of the inverter near the wire exit point.

This is similar in operation to the Glo Stix descibed in the other review so I won't repeat what I said there.

The wire on this unit is thicker at 3.2mm so it will be more durable under outside conditions. It is designed as a tent light to distingish your tent from thousands at large festivals such as glastonbury. Not sure if I would want to use it there as someone would probably try to nick it.

The inverter for this one operates at a lower frequency than the Glow Stix at 600 Hz. So although no so bright it will run for longer and preserve the lifespan of the wire.

The inverter can drive up to 5m of wire an also has an 9V power input for a mains adapter. Makes it a good choice for many glow wire projects.

The 3000mm of wire supplied is Lime in colour which I think is the brightest of the available colours. This length allows you to run it around the door of your tent and is very effective. The light output is enough to illuminate an average room at night so that you dont bump into things. Would be good for mood lighting at nightime venue.

The wire can be bought seperately and is available in many colours and diameters. It is quite expensive at over £6.76 per meter for the 3.2mm as shown here (It does cost a lot less if you buy it in larger amounts. As low as £3.00 a meter inc VAT when you buy reels). So buying it with the inverter is a good deal. You can get it in reels of 250m but they cost £1028 ! Probably enough there to make your entire street look like Las Vegas.

These products are available in the UK from Surelight and I did a web search for the manufacturer based on the other products that I got from them. This gave me the Lytec wire information.
