Thanks to Phil for making me this custom designed Air Stripper for my Daystate MK3. I have seen various designs for these over the last few months and this one appealed to my Shiny nature.

As I have only used the standard pre-silencer and not the Daystate cheese grater air stripper, I thought I would try this and see if it makes any difference.

The fit and finish are superb with the join between the two parts made invisible by being under the figure eight. The first spacer part is free floating and just slips over the barrel. The part with the air stripper cone and deflector is retained with two small grub screws at 90 degrees from each other. These are located on what should be the underneath of the stripper near the filler cap.

I wanted it in polished aluminium so I could remove any minor scuffs myself with a bit of Autosol. (Any excuse to polish my gun)

The air stripper cone is pretty unique as it as adjustable. Great for those of you that likes to tinker. As it came it was set about 11mm away from the end of the barrel. I have shot the gun bench rested outside with this setup. It has produced some very good groups at 40 yards in less than ideal conditions. I had 3 five shot groups around a 5p size. Very impressive. I am using Daystate FT 4.53 pellets. See the pictures below for group shots.

I am now waiting for a decent calm day when I can try moving the cone back to see if it makes any difference. I have already moved it to 7mm and will see what happens on Sunday.

I’m not sure if it is just me but the gun seems to feel a bit different when you shoot it as well. More of a dead feel than normal, if that’s possible?

I did a round of HFT with it fitted and managed a 55 ex 60. Same as my mate with his Daystate MK3 RT with a free floating (not touching the figure eight) pre-silencer. Kieran managed (as usual) to beat both of us with a 56 with his pre-silencer removed altogether on his MK3 water pistol!

It has attracted a fair bit of attention at the club. Most people are impressed with the way it looks. Although it does make the gun very loud when we are shooting from our bench rested target lanes which have a roof over them. Woody made some comments about the noise and I had to stop shooting for five minutes before I could stop laughing!

Once out on the HFT range the noise is not a problem. Although thinking about Woody’s comments still makes me laugh.

So far I am very impressed with this add on for my airgun. I will have to see what it performs like long term to know for sure, but first impressions are very promising.
