www.omegawatches.com Make no mistake. This is a seriously LARGE watch. After looking for a nice quality mechanical chronograph I saw this after hours of web and shop window browsing. The Omega Seamaster line of watches is extremely well established. This version is I think the largest watch that they make. Nice sturdy construction of stainless steel with a protected screw on crown. The hands are a broad sword pattern with a heavy arrow on the minute hand. The hands are hollow in the centre and I think this helps when viewing the chronograph dials. The outer bezel only rotates one way and has a very positive click to it's movement. The dial is covered with Lumi Bright or similar and is reasonably bright after a short exposure to the light. The watch uses the Omega 1164 which is a better finished Valjoux 25 jewel 7750 automatic movement. It has hacking seconds. The movement can also be hand wound. The automatic movement winds the watch movement in one direction and the chronograph movement in the other. The watch has a decent power reserve of about 44 hours. The chronograph pushers are fully depth rated to 300m. This is pretty rare in a chronograph and I am not aware of another watch with this feature. There is a helium release valve for all you hundreds of divers that work in a pressuried living envionment ;-) The timekeeping is not bad for a mechanical watch. Mine gains about 30 Secs a week. |
