Thanks to British Blades and Heinnies for this passround. Here we have two folding knives from Mcusta. Made in Seki in Japan the knives are laser cut and hand assembled.

I've had a little play with these now.

I will write some words for my pictures in a little while, when I get chance. Other things may get in the way so please be patient.

I have sharpened the Katana, the Yoroi was still popping hairs so I left it alone.

I had a go at mirror polishing the edge of the Katana on my Edge Pro. If the next person could let me know what they think to the edge I would appreciate it. :)

Overall impressions are good. Excellent build quality and fit and finish. I do have a few little niggles though. First the bevels on the Katana blade are not even on each side. Not a major issue but would be better if they could be the same.

Secondly the Thumb studs double as blade stops and on the soft aluminium handle they are already leaving an impression.

Thirdly the back edge of the blade on the Yoroi has been left with a rather sharp edge. The same goes for many of the handle edges on this knife. These are possibly going to rub your hands raw under use. A little more rounding would be better.

This should not distract from the rest of the features. The Damascus on the Yoroi is really excellent and makes for a fine looking knife blade. The handle also has unique character and feel with this steel. I like the shape and cut-outs in the handle.

I did tweak the blade pivot screw very slightly as I felt the action was a little on the tight side for my liking. It now opens very smoothly with either hand.

The Katana is nicer to hold for heavier cutting tasks and again has a very smooth and even opening action. No adjustment needed on this knife.

I would probably buy the Yoroi given a choice as I like the design. But if I had to actually use the knife all day the Katana is nicer to hold and use.

Let's start with the Yoroi and move on to the Katana.

Pending review.
