Blade
Length: 3.50" I got this knife after reading several reviews about it. It is very, very solidly built and the blade is silky smooth on its pivot. The handles are made from machined aluminium and contain what feels like a rubber grip insert. Handle finish is hard anodized black. The pocket clip is reversable for tip up or down carry. As I don't carry this round with me (UK laws) I am not too bothered about which way round its fitted. The blade is made from 154CM steel which has been cryogenically hardened to 60 Rockwell. It is coated with a black DLC finish which looks good at the moment but I have my doubts that it would look good after heavy use of the knife. The Edge of the blade is polished and was shaving sharp right out of the box. The blade is etched with the MOD logo and an inscription about Michael Janich who I think was the original designer of this knife. The handles are fitted with a liner lock mechanism locks the blade very rigidly. There is no movement in the open blade whatsoever. It feels almost like a fixed blade! The blade can be opened Right or Left handed using the stepped dual thumbstuds. This is probably the smoothest opening knife that I own. It did need a bit of use opening and closing from new though to get it this smooth. I have not adjusted the tension as I dont have the correct size torx tool yet. |

The manufacturer MOD (Master of Defence) has been taken over by Blackhawk Industries and it looks like they are continuing with the whole range of MOD knives. Excellent news as I don't think this will be the last from them that I buy. |
