I have wanted a small Multitool for a while now. They are very handy for a multitude of tasks around the home and at work. Plus this Micra has the added advantage of being small enough to put on my keyring so it is always with me. It all well and good having the tool with the most blades etc. but if you don't have it when you need it then it's no use to you!

I have owned a Leatherman Wave for a few years now, I carry it in my briefcase along with 6 insulated screwdrivers (I am an electrical engineer). It gets used a fair bit by me and many of the other engineers in my office. We often use it to make up electrical connections on bits of kit that we are testing at the time. (Industrial computers called PLC's mostly). The Wave is great, but too heavy to carry on myself all of the time.

The Leatherman Micra fits into the carry anywhere category extremely well. It also has tools that I think are very suited to a small device.

It is too small to be effective as a pair of pliers, so instead it sports a pair of scissors instead. The scissors a spring loaded and very sharp. I often use the small scissors on my Wave for cutting plastic parts for my model aircraft. These should be even better due to the longer handles.

The rest of the tools are simple fold out to use. The require the handle to be opened to get at them but once a tool is selected the handles should be closed to prevent the selected tool from closing on you fingers.

Construction of the Micra is excellent. All the tools are easy to open and click into place as a normal slipjointed knife would.

I am not sure of the exact materials used for the construction of the tool. Its says that the optimum Grade/Hardness is used for each tool. I cannot imagine that anything exotic has been used due to cost considerations.

The pictures show each of the tools and a size comparison with the Leatherman Pulse and Wave tools as well as and ARC AAA LED light.

As you can see the Micra is very small especially when put alongside the ARC AAA.

The Leatherman website has some excellent tools along with a nice comparison guide and fully animated pics of each well worth a look.
