Manufacturer:-
www.inovalight.com This is very different looking device compared with the usual LED torches that I have seen so far. It looks to have been designed with the use of the supplied lanyard attachment in mind from the outset. This works very well indeed and gives this light some unique abilities. The light is powered
from a single Lithium CR123A Cell and this comes pre-installed into the
light. The battery is accessed through a black octagonal screw cap on
the right hand side of the light when viewed from the front. This is very
nice quality and looks as if it is made from brass or similar. It is sealed
with an O-ring to keep moisture out of the battery compartment. The battery
is a snug fit and does not rattle around. It should also stand sitting
around for up to 10 years without leaking or failing to work when required. |

The unit has 8 LED's mounted in an octagonal pattern. They are the following colours. 4 White, 2 Red and 2 Amber. The light is operated by using the front octagonal bezel that surrounds the LED's. There is a black edge all the way round this and the yellow line cut into it indicates the bezel position. There are 7 normal operating modes plus off. There is also a hidden 8th operating mode that you really need to read the manual (who said that?) to find. These are as follows. In clockwise order from the off position viewed from the front of the light. 1.) On White Dim (15
Hours) The hidden 8th mode is accessed by turning the switch to a position between any of the above modes. This will activate the find me mode. The two red LED's will flash briefly every six seconds so that you can find the unit in the dark. The switch rotates in a very positive manner and lines up with the outer surround in each of the 7 normal modes of operation. I am not too sure what the operating times are in each of the modes yet. There are no figures given in the instructions. I imagine it will be quite along time though when in any of the flashing or low power modes. I have added the figures that I found on the Inova Website. How accurate they are I do not know yet. There must be a power
regulation circuit that dims the light and an IC of some sort to control
the operating modes. Possibly this is a micro controller? You can clearly
hear the IC switching if you hold it next to your ear when it is flashing
or in a low power mode you get a high pitched whining. |

Construction & build quality of this light is excellent with the feel of a tough and quality product. Reports from other review sites say that it does not like being submerged under water, so don't get it too wet. If you do take out the battery and dry slowly (on the top of a computer monitor. Thanks for the tip Craig.) For several days before you use it again. UK Dealers outdoorsuppliesuk.com At last a great UK supplier with LOW prices for Torches, Knives, Outdoor Equipment and more.
