This is a very cool device. It uses 3 Nicha LED's to produce an indirect reflected light from the inner aluminium insert. It is designed as a replacement for a typical chemical lightstick, but this FX version has many new tricks up its sleeve that cannot be performed by any existing lightstick.

Features

This FX version of the light has 7 different modes of operation as listed below:-

1.) Equal Flash
2.) Beacon Strobe
3.) Slow Strobe
4.) SOS
5.) Throb
6.) 100 % Constant On
7.) 25% Constant On

The unit is powered by a single 12V 23A battery. Which I think are used for some electronic ignition lighters & car alarm remotes. This is installed + side down in the light body and the aluminium top is then screwed into place. The operation initially had me confused as I thought that you had to unscrew the cap to turn the unit on and off. Doh. What you should do it turn the small shaft that sticks out of the cap. This is what the lanyard attatchment ring is connected to. The light will then burst into operation!

The different modes of operation can be selected by turning the light on for 5 seconds, then turning it off again. Each subsequent turn on will now cycle through each mode. Leaving the light on for more than 4 seconds on a selected mode will lock the unit into that mode so that the above setting sequence must be followed again to change it. My favorite mode is the Throb setting, with the light slowly pulsing between high and low brightness about once a second.
